He is a amazing custom artist with a great eye for detail.
1. How do you first start becoming a Disney fan?
I have lived in Burbank California my whole life, home of the Disney Studios. So ive been been around Disney for many years, my early memories were driving past the studios to and from school. I remember my father and mother telling me “thats where Mickey works” from an early age, thats where I started to become a Disney fan.
As a kid we would go to Disneyland once a year and I remember that day being more exciting than my birthday, easter and christmas all rolled into one.
2. Do you remember your first trip to a Disney park?
I don’t remember the first time because I was very young, I think I was two or three years old. But I do remember the times we use to go when I was around five or six. It has changed alot over the last thirty years since I can remember, my favorite attractions were the Skyway and the People Mover. Which sadly are gone.
The most powerful memory I have of Disneyland was my cousins telling me Space Mountain went upside down when I was 7 or 8. Lets just say I didn’t go on that ride for many years after that.
3. How do you get started in Art Design?
Ive been an artist and creative person for as long as I can remember. My teachers always would encourage me to go into the art field as a career, they said I had “Raw Talent”. Sadly as a young adult I was more interested in having fun and skateboarding, who knows where I would be today if I studied in the arts when so many of my teachers and family told me I should.
I would say I got started into Art Design when I was around 7 years old (1987), I just started getting into skateboarding and the stickers of the 1980′s were amazing. They were really inspiring for me as a kid, if it were not for skateboarding stickers in the 1980′s there would be no Evilos today.
4. Is there a favorite Disney character you like to design the most?
I would say I really don’t have a favorite character per say, but my favorite theme would be the Haunted Mansion. I have so many deep rooted memories of that ride as a kid and as an adult I can appreciate all the work that went into creating such an amazing attraction. My favorite character from the Haunted Mansion would be Ezra the Hitch Hiking Ghost. I have done many art related items with him, most notably the 9″ Vinylmation Custom Ezra with real hair and coat. That has been a fan favorite and has became the family pet.
5. Who is your favorite artist from the Disney Design Group?
In all honesty all of them are my favorite, as they all are very talented at what they do and I enjoy many things they create. I have talked to most all of them in person and they have been very supportive of my work.
6. Do you have any plans to work for Disney in the future?
I get asked this a lot or why has not Disney hired me yet? It would be an honor to be a part of such amazing history and organization. Ive been approached by Disney to do Vinylmation customs officially so only time will tell what my true path will become in that regard. I would love to be able to tell my children I was apart of Walts legacy and Vinylmation is such an amazing platform to be creative and express yourself.
